Call for Experts: WHO Technical Advisory Group on Food Safety

CALL FOR EXPERTS: WHO TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP ON FOOD SAFETY

by A4NH | August 7, 2020

Food safety has rapidly moved up on the global development agenda, as food systems grow increasingly complex and put greater distance between consumers and farms. People in low- and middle-income countries have access to more food choices, and growing numbers of middle-class consumers in these countries are demanding access to safe food.

Earlier in 2020, the 73rd World Health Assembly adopted a resolution on "Strengthening efforts on food safety," which requests the World Health Organization (WHO), in coordination with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and in consultation with others, to update the WHO global strategy for food safety, addressing current and emerging challenges, incorporating new technologies, and including innovative strategies for strengthening food safety systems.

To address this request, WHO seeks to identify internationally-renowned experts to serve on a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to strategically advise WHO's work on food safety.

Additional information, including requirements, application guidelines, and selection process details, can be found on WHO's website. Deadline to apply is August 21, 2020.
