Addressing the Threat of Non-Communicable Diseases

ADDRESSING THE THREAT OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

by IFPRI | July 5, 2012

To address the increasing threat of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)—those diseases caused by poor nutrition, including obesity, heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes—the Leverhulme Centre for Integrative Research on Agriculture and Health (LCIRAH) convened a workshop in London this week. A4NH Director John McDermott was among the participants in the event, “The Role of Agricultural and Food Systems Research in Combating Chronic Disease for Development.” He took part in a panel discussion on the future direction of agriculture and NCD research for development. More information, including the complete program, is available on the LCIRAH website.
