Update from the Field: Stories of Change in Nutrition in Vietnam

Under way since September 2017, Stories of Change Vietnam aims to understand the history, contemporary treatment, and future of nutrition in Vietnam, including policy and practice pertaining to both undernutrition and overweight/obesity. The research uses quantitative methods to explore trends in nutrition outcomes and drivers, and qualitative approaches to analyze trends in 'enabling environments' for nutrition.

Food Systems for Healthier Diets Seeks PhD Student in Global Nutrition

A4NH's Food Systems for Healthier Diets Flagship Research Program seeks a PhD student to focus on a research project in Vietnam and Nigeria. The project aims to improve fruit and vegetable intakes of urban, low-income consumers (especially women and youth as being the most vulnerable) in order to address the double burden of malnutrition.

Markets in Vietnam: A Snapshot of Transforming Food Systems

As part of our recent meetings in Vietnam, the A4NH team had the opportunity to visit three different markets in Hanoi: a traditional wet market, a smaller neighborhood market, and a supermarket. What we saw and learned during those visits provided insights into what challenges arise as a food system transforms.

Bridging the Gender Gap in Livestock Projects in Vietnam and Cambodia

Two training workshops were held in January 2018 to develop the capacity of livestock researchers to integrate gender in livestock value chains in projects supported by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research in Vietnam, and the United States Agency for International Development in Cambodia.
